Golgotha
Eugenio Laponte
Dining Table
The three most important events for Christianity, marking the holy easter triduum, took place around a still mysterious place named in the Gospels as GOLGOTHA.
The riddling last moments of the life of Christ - last supper, crucifixion, resurrection - become the focus of Eutopiarch’s investigation: three events, three days, three mysteries, taking shape in a design all based on the divine number 3.
The solid conceptual value defines a peculiar outcome: a table, or rather an altar, with the coldness of a funeral bed.
The metal of the Arma Christi nails and lance is chosen as the only material: a hand-brushed steel slab is supported by three cross-shaped legs, holding each other and functioning as a whole, being joined through cuts, like puzzle pieces.
The three crosses appear on the horizontal satin surface like liquid wounds, with only reflective elements in the opaque object.
GOLGOTHA is an auto production - conceived, designed, and handmade in Milan.

Eugenio Laponte
Born in 1986 in the south of Italy, he inherits his passion for design, and arts in general from his mother who from a very young age pushed him to nurture his natural inclination towards different kinds of artistic production: glass painting, sculpture, and above all free hand drawing.
Moves to Milan to study architecture at the polytechnic school of Milano, a city where he starts working for different architectural firms while still a student. Preferring small studios to big companies, to have the chance to personally follow all the different phases of the architectural projects firsthand, he develops a particular interest in the investigation of the use of materials and both the conceptual and empiric process of giving a physical shape to abstract ideas.
He's now the founder and creative director of EUTOPIARCH, his studio, which focuses mainly on interior architecture, bespoke furniture design, and set-ups projects.
